Beginner female safety razor user! Sooo ladies this is a great eco friendly option for our shaving needs! I purchased this about a week ago and have been loving it so far! Only nicked myself once. These are sharp, much sharper than Venus disposable stuff. I can’t say if the blade(s) last as long but it still seems Incredibly sharp after 5 days of full body shaving. If you’re like me (kind of lazy) and you don’t put shaving cream on then you might want to consider using shaving cream/conditioner and as a last resort body wash with this razor. I usually just got my skin wet and shaved away NOPE not with this bad boy unless you want to get cut. The blade moves way easier across the skin with a little lubricant. Common sense some of you might say but not for an semi lazy yet avid full body shaver. I’ve noted that my organic bar soap doesn’t lube the skin up enough for this razor so I resorted to conditioner until I can find a nonaerosol/plastic free shaving cream container. Yeah I’m a hippy. Conditioner works just fine. I also haven’t had the guts to shave quickly with this razor because it is so sharp. It’s nice to not have the little lawn mower mohawks of hair on your legs though.

Bottom line: This razor is bad. Like really bad. My Mach 3 gave a closer shave with less irritation. I purchased a Merkur 34C about a month after having this razor, and it was incredible. Details below.I'd like to first start off saying I'd been shaving with a Gillette Mach 3 for about 1+ years when I first got this razor. I was so excited to start shaving with a DE razor. I got a good shave soap (Proraso Red), a boar hair brush, and a stand to allow the brush to dry properly. I got some Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades, as I'd heard they were mild and good for beginners, while still being sharp.First shave was terrible, I cut myself atleast 4 times, and didn't get a close shave at all. As someone new to this, I assumed it was a fault of my own. I continued for the next 2-3 weeks, with almost 0 improvement. I was constantly reading forums/watching videos about what to do better, and where I was going wrong. I continued to improve my technique and use these tips, but my shaves got no better (hair was being pulled, tons of razor burn). I finally ordered a pair of very sharp blades (Feathers), thinking the blade may be the culprit. No improvement.I finally decided to order a Merkur 34c. It wasn't until I shaved with this I both understood all the hype about DE shaving, and also understood just how bad the Weishi razor was. Extremely smooth, close shave, no irritation. The Merkur cost $40, the Weishi cost $16. Don't be an idiot like me, and cut yourself for nearly a month because you wanted to save $24.Bottom line: I had a terrible experience, and would not recommend this product. Others have left glowing reviews, but this was my honest experience as a true beginner.

I got tired of paying crazy amounts for the Gillette refills.I have never found an electric razor I could use use, because my skin gets irritated and breaks up in a rash, so I’ve been using Gillette Pro Glide. It works good for me, but the cartridges are way overpriced. This product solves the price problems for refills, and it does the job great. It is tougher than those Gillette ones, so I cut myself the first few times I used it. Once you get used to it, it is great.Nice clean shave, easy to clean, and for the price, well worth the change.

So, I usually do not write reviews, but I feel like this is one of those cases that I wanted to share with the world. I am a 35 year old male and I have never used a safety razor in my life. After a lifetime of buying cheap. wasteful, overpriced, plastic razors, I've decided that enough is enough and I will go back to the times of my forefathers. After looking through Amazon's offerings I've decided not to indulge and spend too much on something I may not even end up using, Weishi seemed to offer a product that was both affordable and had great reviews, so I went for it. The day it arrived and I opened the box, I immediately fell my chest hair grow thicker and denser. It just looked so...manly.Anyway, I also ordered some shaving cream and a brush to complete it all out. Then, the morning came... I popped in a shiny new razor, generously applied shaving cream and started shaving. It all went well, I thought. It felt like shaving with a regular, name-brand razor. No cuts, no burn, no drama. I did, however, notice that, at the end of the day, I wasn't really getting the closest shave on my lifetime and my 5 o'clock shadow was coming in at 3. It was fine, but it was not different than you would get with a plastic razor. Oh well, at least I was saving money and the environment, right? Then, one morning after a long shower, an I idea popped into my mind... What if I try to shave AGAINST the hair? Well, I did. Next think you know my skin is burning and there is more blood splatter than in a cheap 80's horror flick. I am coming out of the bathroom covered in pieces of toilet paper, scaring my wife and cursing this "safety" razor. But, my god, my face is now smoother than a baby's bottom and I couldn't stop touching (that sounds really wrong). It really was amazing. Now, few weeks later, I am still shaving against the hair and my skin has gotten used to the punishment. I get almost no burn, an barely any cuts. My fingers handle the razor like a virtuoso handles a violin bow.Overall, highly recommended whether you're doing this to save a few dollars, or the turtles in the oceans or you just want to feel more manly. It's a known fact that women who see these safety razors in a man's bathroom instantly become excited and men start trembling in their shoes. It's true, look it up.

This should be advertised as face shredder, instead of safety razor. Even with quality Astra blades, this thing carved up my face and neck something terrible. There was so much blood from all the nicks and cuts it gave me that it looked like a murder scene. I've never gotten a worse case of razor irritation/razor burn than I did from this thing. My face was angry, red, and painful for almost a week after using this thing. After trying to use it (with EXTREME care and caution), and still getting the same results, this joke of a razor went in the trash like the piece of garbage that it is. Don't waste your money on this thing.

Maybe I just don't get it. With 1500 fantastic reviews and this being the top seller for razors (across all categories at the time of this review), I assumed there was something special about using a safety razor over the cartridge razors I've been using for the past two decades. Curious, I ordered this and fired up Youtube videos to ensure I was using the bugger right. I've now used it for 5 shaves and I think that's long enough to say that I'm not a fan.I've got the technique down fine, and can shave my face without any cuts or irritation, but I find the shave is both not as good as I was getting with my cheap Dorco razor, and takes significantly longer with a higher chance of misfortune and cuts if you get an angle wrong.I'll say this - it's cool looking, well built, seems to harken back to the days of yesteryear, when our grandparents were shaving with straight razors and popping out kids by the dozen in the booming post-war period. For me, that's where the appeal ends. Its an expensive way to get a mediocre shave in twice the time it would take me to get a better one with a $5 Dorco. Shame too, because it feels great in the hand - I'd probably buy this exact razor if I could just click in a better cartridge. If you're looking for hipster bathroom decor, by all means grab one of these with a fancy stand and a badger hair brush. If you're actually looking for a better razor, don't waste your time.

Im not a first time user to these types of razors my dad taught me to shave with a DE razor and i just never saw the need for them plastic disposibles you throw away , so i can honestly say this is one smooth shave , no grabbing and pulling , very little "feedback" i.e.- scraping sound when u shaving- which is not a make or break for me .It has a nice weight to it , there is a learning curve to these but nothing crazy- dont push down to hard .dont go super fast.use a good blade and dont shave 5 times with the same bladethis a more then 1 pass razor .etc. etc . this is a very forgiving blade , but please please please dont use them blades that come with......and do experiment with different blades! pick one up its a great starter !

I’ve been shaving for many decades. Always with the typical Gillette type with replacement cartridges. I remember my grandfather having a butterfly safety razor. Wish I would’ve gone to this type a long time ago! Super close shave and the cost savings is huge for blades compared to what I’ve used prior. My five o’clock shadow not showing up till late in the evening now due to the clean close shave I get with this. Price for the razor is great too. Good weight of this razor puts the right pressure to do the job! Not sure why other razors are so expensive since the blade it the work horse!Glad I made the change! Can’t go wrong with buying this.

I'm a female and I was tired of spending so much on razor cartridges. This razor works. It is not a good idea if you want to shave quickly in the morning. Quick shaving with this leads to a very, very close shave (ie, blood). Over time, it has developed some rust under the blade, though I can only see it when I am changing blades. This might just be from the blades themselves, but I can't seem to get it off.The positives: it works. After buying a pack of blades, I can change blades as often as I want and it is costing me pennies. After a few months of practice, if I am very careful, I can get a close shave without bleeding. Maybe the blades I got weren't great, but sometimes I have a blade that gives an easy shave, sometimes I can't get a close shave, and sometimes I can't shave without bleeding. I feel less guilty knowing that I'm not throwing away plastic with every blade change. It has a nice weight in the hand. Be aware that if aren't careful, you can inadvertently open the butterfly closure slightly while shaving and end up with a loose blade.

Got this for my husband as a gift and he loves it. He was shaving with a regular razor before and has sensitive skin and was getting a lot of bumps and razor burns/ ingrown hair. After using this, his shave is softer, smoother, with no bumps and hardly any ingrown hairs. He says he’s not going back to the regular razors. Therefore I believe I got my money’s worth. Here are some more pros and cons:Pros: easy to hold, shaves smoothly. Great for beginners, good for sensitive skin, helps with bumps and ingrown hairs.Cons: takes a few times to perfect it, still gets a few ingrown hair here and there.Overall this razor improved his skin and made a great gift. He has a softer, smoother looking shave now and we both love it.

This is a really well-made product. It honestly surprised me, despite the endearing “EnGrish” on their Amazon page.I actually bought another one of these as a gift for my teenaged daughter, because she started using it behind my back out of an intrepid curiosity and then confessed her crimes while claiming she wanted one too.Do yourself a favor and give this company and this sort of razor a chance. If you’ve ever tried one of these types of razors, you’ll become a convert to this type of shaving and shake your head wondering just why the heck why you wasted so much money with those hair-clogging disposables in the past.Check out a few YouTube videos if you’ve never done this sort of thing before. And if there are any ladies reading this comment, don’t be afraid of cutting yourself. Just use mostly an straight upstroke and keep the razor at 45° or so.That’s what the kid says she does anyways.

So im one of those fellas who hated shaving, no matter what kind of cartridge razer i tried i always broke out. The only way i could get an OK shave was with a brand new head EVERY time. No matter what kind of cream i used it was always the same out come. And being how freaking expensive razer heads are i can't buy a new pack of heads every week. i said screw it ill just use trimmers and keep it as short as possible. Untill a safty razer cought my eye at a store, id only ever seen them in old movies and at antique store haha. But a store selling a brand new one got me thinking that "hey i like new things, so ill look into one of those" so alot of youtube and Google later and i was on Amazon looking for a cheap one because i was still sceptical about them. I found this guy!! I got it, shaved with it, loved it. One thing to note, if you have never used one befor the blades that come with it will seem like they cut really nice...HA! save your self some time, tose out the blades that come with this and buy a pack of well reviewed blades when you order this. Or one of the variety packs sold on Amazon to try as many kinds as you can. Its worth the 3-12 bucks. I got the feather blades dang they be sharp... And for a pack of 100 safty razers your talking 7.99 to like 12.99 holy crap thats a huge savings over a normal big name brand your brought being told to use by the media. AND! The blades last me at least 4 shaves on one side, so at least 8 shaves per blade! So bam! More money in my pocket! Just make sure you have a good cream too, that is important, you dont need the brush or anything but a cream that works good for you is a must. I like Van Der Hagan shave butter, it smells great, feels good and leavs your face feeling clean. And an added bounes you can feel classie as heck and have an awsome shave at the same time pluse save money!!

I would like to preface this by stating that I have loads of relevant experience with nearly every type and brand of razor. I was in the Navy for 10 years, which required me to shave daily (sometimes twice in a day for inspections), so I am no stranger to the woes of the daily face scraper.I finally made the switch from multi-blade disposables to the trusty safety razor, and I don’t know why I waited so long. For the price of a large Gillette Fusion refill pack, I was able to purchase this razor and a brush/stand kit (link below)Pick up some shave oil and shave soap to go with it, take it nice and slow, and you will have a better shave than any disposable cartridge can deliver. And all of this for a fraction of the cost of the disposables.(Miusco Badger Hair Shaving Brush... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G2W5N9M?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf)

I got into double edge shaving recently and I bought this since it was "Amazon Choice". It came with a pack of 5 blades and a little brush that I don't know what it is for. The handle itself is well built. It's not great, it's not mediocre but it's "sufficient". I wish it were a bit longer and a bit heavier on the top.I expect as I get a bit more comfortable with double edge shaving, I'll likely want to get a better handle for myself.

This is an initial review and I’ll update it in 6-12 months.I was skeptical on using this kind of razor, due to cutting myself or any kind of user error. However, within two or three strokes with this product I felt comfortable. The instructions are clear and well written. Even though it’s a simple item and fairly straight forward to use. Also the twisting knob at the bottom requires a little bit of effort, so the latching mechanisms do stay closed while shaving!Recommending to friends.

I’ve been using this razor for a little over a month now, and it isn’t easy to get into, i normally go over once but with this shaver I have to go over multiple times and it’s weigt throws me off. I curing myself also everytime I shave. I thoughts that was how it was, until I use a different handle and I love it. This one is not for everyone.

Decided to get into the world of wet shaving.....after talking to a couple friends who do and really like it. I have to admit, this style razor has always scared me! I know that sounds crazy but.... anyway, I decided to buy a mid-priced product to start with just to see how I like it. Few things I've learned thus far....First, the razor feels nice in your hand and appears to be well made. Second, the blades that come with it Suck....they're cheap. After reading and discussing it with my friends, they all told me and my research shows, the razor is only as good as the quality of the blades. (I have since ordered better quality blades, waiting for them to arrive) and third.....even though the blade quality isn't that good....I still get a pretty good shave! I can't wait for the new blades to get here to see if it gets better! Also, if you haven't ever used one of these style razors, be patient! I had to relearn my shaving technique. I've used disposables so long, I developed a routine....with this style, you may have to adjust your technique as I did. Wasn't difficult and after only a few days...I've got it down! Also, you have to resist the urge to press hard on your face with this razor. I always pressed hard using the old disposables to get a close shave. With this razor (style)....let the razor glide over your skin with just the weight of the razor doing the work. Overall....I like it and wish I had made the change years ago! Now, to purchase some good quality shave soap and brush! The only reason I give it three stars is because I think that if a manufacturer really wants you to like their product, they should have given you GOOD blades to start with! After all, you only get 5 blades with the razor....spend a few pennies more and provide GOOD blades!! Just my two cents.... I will be buying another one for my road kit.

This explains why I kept cutting myself up so badly with this razor. I noticed that one door wasn't sitting down fully. Tonight I only used the side that fully closed, and I had a great shave. I did three passes, and not a single cut. Wish I wouldn't have gotten a bad one. So many people seem to love this razor. Think I might need to upgrade. Not sure if i want to risk buying another one of these, and possibly get another bad one.

So, I was slightly terrified by all the hype around this razor. I was worried I'd take it out of the box and skin myself and die. Thankfully that was not the case.I was instantly impressed by the weight of the razor, then disappointed as soon as I saw the Chinese writing on the razors blades themselves.. what's worse than cutting yourself while shaving? Cutting yourself with a blade made in a Chinese factory. Regardless, you still get the stars, being I overlooked all of this during my purchase.I have a toddler, so the last time I shaved my legs was 1972 but I felt this razor was up for the challenge. It look awhile to cut through the hair but I will say that cleaning the hair out of this thing was a breeze. Every 2 swipes I'd clean her out and the shave was almost effortless. Now, I can only review on shaving my legs and armpits at this time.. I know most of you are wondering what I was... How is it on the lady parts? While mine is very less neglected than my legs were I have to be completely honest, I haven't yet gathered the courage to try it down there just yet.. we all know one slip in that area with a razor like this would lead to the adult version of female circumcision and I'm just not ready to live that way.. maybe tomorrow? Will update.

I like this razor, it is my first safety razor. I need to use a new blade all the time, otherwise I get razor burn, so this is the perfect solution. The reason this isn't a great razor is because of the twist thing on the bottom that opens the butterfly to hold the blade. Mine doesn't stay on tight, so it will start opening at any moment. Very frustrating when you're trying to shave and you feel that screw on the bottom opening. Mine also appears to be rusting a bit. I don't leave it in the shower either - I would imagine over time it will be in very bad shape.

This razor is so dull and so poor at removing hair it should be called a trimmer. And it is a poor trimmer at that. I wound up with alternating stubble and bad razor burn. Having used a safety razor before, I've never experienced such shamelessly poor quality.

This razor is certainly very well built. It has a nice heft to its weight. The open/close mechanism feels very secure. I have had this product about three months and never experienced it getting lose during my shaves. The blades sit very well aligned. The handle is also very grippy. I had no issues of it sliding around with a wet handle or wet hands. And best of all, it is very easy to keep clean. A simple unused toothbrush once in a while will clean it from soap residue. The most exciting part of owning this safety razor is the amount of money you will save for the duration of the products lifetime. I have been shaving for about a decade and used only cartridge razors. I have a thick facial hair that grows fairly quickly. I could easily spend $100 a year on cartridge refills alone. Spending so much money already, I usually bought the very cheap tin can shaving foam. With this safety razor, a pack of 100 blades will have me spend $10 a year. That allows me to buy much higher quality shaving soaps and products which adds to the overall quality of my shaves.I have always had very sensitive skin. Razor burn, razor bumps and ingrown hairs; all sorts of skin irritation. No matter what I did, my face and skin would be very unsightly the next day. I accepted that it was a fact of life to always have my face sliced up and butchered. I hated shaving so much. When I first learned of a safety razor, I jumped right in and gave this a shot. I will admit, don’t be surprised that on your first several shaves, you may get more cuts and Nicks. With time, practice and new techniques, you’ll get better and reduce the amount of cuts. Some shaves you’ll have no cut skin at all. It took me weeks upon weeks to allow my skin to heal properly from using cartridge razors. Now, I can get a very close shave while reducing skin irritation significantly. I shave across the grain, which works for me to be as close as possible while also being semi mild on my skin. The biggest selling point about safety razors was the environmental impact. I am a huge environmentalist and the significant reduction on plastic use does wonders for the environment. The handle is all metal and the razor blades is all metal. There is no plastic that will sit in landfills or float in the ocean disrupting the ecosystem. There are so many benefits in using a safety razor. Low cost, high quality, Eco friendly. Take your time, allow the weight of the razor do the work, watch the countless tutorials on YouTube to get the best possible shave. With time and practice, you may even start to enjoy shaving. I highly recommend using a safety razor for those with sensitive skin.

just got this razor today and I couldn't have been more excited to put it to good use. I immediately ditched my fusion razor where 8 blades cost 25-30 bucks depending on sales. I have personally never used a safety razor so when I first put the blade in the thing i noticed is how absolutely sharp the blade is. The blade is so sharp that you can't even feel it gliding across your face or body. It's very easy in my inexperience with these types of razors to apply to much pressure and that's exactly what happened I cut myself pretty good twice. But hey it's all a learning experience!Typically With my fusion razor I shave once with the grain and then to get a nice smooth close shave I shave again but against the grain. With this safety razor I noticed that simply going with the grain it gives you a shockingly close shave. almost to the point where you don't even need to go against the grain unless you want a truly baby smooth face and body.shaving is a more personal experience now as you have to take it much slower or else you're going to shave your skin right off. And I think I like it! I also like the fact you can buy 100 blades for 20 bucks. If you bought 100 Fusion blades you would set yourself back AT LEAST 300+ dollars. that's a HUGE savings.I love the weight of this razor it feels substantial in your hand. The Gunmetal finish to it gives it a illustrious almost gentlemen look to it. This is Chinese made but with care and love the entire mechanism to open the bay and close it feels solid and secure. If you want your mornings to be a more personal relaxing experience. If you want to get that SUPER CLOSE shave that just feels right. and if you want to save hundreds of dollars yearly I HIGHLY recommend this to you. You WILL NOT be disappointed

I wish I'd bought one of these a LONG time ago.The Weishi razor will do the same job any disposable or electric razor can in the same amount of time with infinitely better results.I'm a woman (chunky at that!) and this safety razor has given me THE closest shave I have ever experienced on my legs, underarms, and bikini area. I've used every number of blades on every "quality" of disposable razor from bic to the 5-blade venus and nothing compares to using one good blade instead of 5 subpar blades that all wear out at once. Furthermore, this safety razor is incredibly easy to rinse out and keep clean. Disposables are nearly impossible to knock the hair and skin out of. With this razor your worst case scenario is having to open the head and rinse it under your tap which is about a two second process at the max that gets your setup back to looking like you just pulled it out of the box.I'm not using it with shaving soap but I may pick up a bar for the hell of it. I first exfoliate where I want to shave with a good, gentle soap and my salux towel or a brush. Use warm water. You can then rinse your legs and apply a shaving cream or hair conditioner. This is my first time using a safety razor, so I was naturally intimidated from the horror stories my parents told me as a child about how they slipped and cut themselves with their parents' razors. Thankfully, even with slippery hands in running water, the design of the handle keeps it INCREDIBLY easy to grasp with two or three fingers. Now, grip this razor towards the rear and place the head at a 90 degree angle to your skin. Slowly bring the handle towards yourself until it's around 45 degrees. Now, without applying pressure, drag the razor up your leg slowly and carefully. Once you get the idea of how much pressure you need to shave an area you can modify the angle and pressure. You must make sure you use some sort of shaving cream or conditioner! If it "skips" across your skin because you didn't use any shaving cream it will try to bite you.As of writing this review, this is the second time I've used this razor and the included blades to shave my legs, underarms, and bikini line/pubic area. I haven't cut myself ONCE and there are ZERO shaving bumps or burns anywhere! I keep running my hands over my legs like some kind of weirdo. They're so silky!I haven't shut up about this razor to my friends and family. It's a lovely way to cut down on plastic disposables without sacrificing any convenience.

I liked this razor because it was lighter and had the butterfly opening, which is much easier to use and safer. Sooner or later if you pick up enough of these blades you will cut yourself.Anyway, it has been giving me a nice close shave without nicks or gouges and no razor burn. It is easy to hold and control, no problems with the blade twisting on you, got a great balance to it, surprised me. For this kind of performance I feel like buying another one just for backup. Brands tend to disappear after awhile.

I am new to using a safety razor and I am a female. I have always had to shave a lot since I am Spanish and Greek. Every single day, half of me gets shaved. It's a chore, but I truly hate the body hair.Anyway, I have issues with razor bumps and ingrown hairs so I began to read about possible solutions. One was to get an after shave type of spray and the other was to use a safety razor. I was a little nervous, but other women have tried and lived, so I tried it too.I make sure I wear my glasses and go slowly. I haven't nicked myself anymore than with any other razor, luckily. I have a inexpensive brush and shaving soap, which makes it nice. I still use the disposable one for delicate areas that I'm too afraid to put that de razor near. I'm very pleased at how smooth it makes areas feel! I bought other razor refills that I saw were popular. All good. Glad I switched!

Since I’ve started shaving about once a week or so, when things get uncomfortably itchy, I realized I was still using plastic multi-blade razors and that was probably the reason I was hating having to shave. I totally forgot that those absurdly expensive injection molded throwaways do not work well at all on hairs that are long enough to clog the poor little things, which means they clog on every single stroke. I was spending more time trying to clear the closely spaced beard-trapper blades than shaving. So I bought an older-fashion razor. I was done in a little over one minute, including wetting, lathering, and cleanup. This one works just fine: no nicks, no burn, no clogging. It opens and closes smoothly and stays closed. Even the cheapo free blades are good.If you shave only occasionally enough to have razor problems, buy this. It’s also cheaper in the long run. And remember to have a kid-proof plan for tossing old blades.

Like most who opt for this type of razor, saving money on blades was the reason for making the switch. I really can't justify spending upwards of $20 for five replacement blades. The manufacturers recommend shaving just after getting out of a warm shower. I do that anyway. It's the way I've been doing it for years. The hot water and steam soften your facial hair. My first shave left some razor burn. The problem was my shaving cream. Time to switch from the white foamy stuff to a gel. No need for the expensive stuff. The store brand works just fine.A few tips...Go with the grain on the first pass and then against the grain on the second. There's no need to lather twice. Use short strokes. Don't press down. Let the weight of the razor do the work. There's no need for special oils and creams or brushes unless you want them.I found YouTube an excellent source for tutorials. Just searching "How To Use A Safety Razor" on YouTube will bring up a wide selection of How-To vids.Overall, this is a great value for a great shave!

My old Parker 99R broke after a couple years of use, so I needed a replacement fast. For the price, this WEISHI razor is unbeatable. It has a very sturdy construction, and the textured handle is rougher and grippier than my old razor, which I prefer. My old razor had a sort of spiral texture up the handle, which is more elegant, but I feel that the WEISHI is easier to hold with wet hands. It also has a good weight to it.- The locking mechanism is tight and secure. It doesn't "lock", just like my old Parker 99R didn't, but I haven't had the doors loosen during use yet.- This razor is amazingly forgiving, yet still provides a great, close shave when you want it. I would say its a great razor for beginner-intermediate shavers. I've been using a DE safety razor for 5 or 6 years now, but I haven't hacked my face once using this razor yet, whereas I would sometimes get careless and do so with the Parker.- I have very sensitive skin, prone to razor burn and also ingrown hairs if I cut too close, and I found that this razor, going with the grain only, has resulted in 0 ingrown hairs or razor burn over the weeks I've used it. That's saying a lot, especially since I used to get ingrown hairs pretty often. Obviously I'm very happy about that. All in all, I'm not sure what else I could want from this razor, especially for the price. I also don't see a need to spend any more than I did, since for me, this razor checked all the boxes I cared about. Try it and see. I think you'll be impressed.

This is my first safety razor; I got sick of buying expensive disposable replacement cartridges. It has worked really well for me as a beginner. I don't know much about angles, but I wouldn't say this is a very "aggressive" razor, in that it seems pretty hard to cut myself. I get the occasional nick, if I'm not careful in tricky areas, and I once sliced my finger deeply while handling it carelessly. But I think I've only cut myself 3-4 times in almost a year of shaving my legs and armpits, and I'm not an especially coordinated person. (I've dropped the razor more often than I've cut myself, and it has held up to that, although it is scary to drop something that heavy.) I like the blade-changing mechanism, which generally doesn't work its way loose, and I like the gunmetal color and handle length. I've never used the blades that came with it; I got a bunch of Astra Platinums that I replace more often than probably necessary.

As my first single-blade razor, I was a bit lost on how to really get started with it all. Naturally, I decided to come to Amazon and buy the one that came up with the highest reviews. I have to say - this thing is just an absolute game-changer as opposed to electric razors or multi-blades.This design is elegantly packaged, and comes with the razor body and 5 double-bladed safety razors of indeterminable origin. Setup is easy enough, you twist the knob on the bottom and the top opens up not unlike some missile silo so that I can insert the blade, and it closes by twisting it the other way. The instructional guide within assumes that I have a lot more equipment than I did, so a lot of it I kind of ignored. I paid attention to the bits that involved what I had, and I've only gotten the best shaves from this thing.Forreal - multiple passes were a breeze with this thing, I never had to worry about getting hair or cream caught in between the blades like usual (very, very easy to clean by the way - big plus), and it left a shave that was close and nick- free. Absolutely brilliant. It costs quite a bit more upfront than regular razors, but I see myself using this product for a long, *long* time. The build quality is just excellent on this thing and the refills for the blades are absolutely dirt cheap. If you're still using multi blade razors, I implore you to cease IMMEDIATELY and pick up one of these. Can't stress that enough.TL;DRPros - - Great packaging and instrucitons - Well made - Easy to swap out blades - Easy to keep cleanCons - - Still haven't found a downside to this thing, honestly. I'll update the review when/if I find one, but nah I love this thing.

I am extremely happy with this razor. As a women some, reviews made me nervous but I have used this razor to shave EVERY part of my body and it works great. Maybe not the smoothest shave in some areas ( like my armpits and Meow) but probably the equivalent to store a store bought 4 blade razor for my legs. Only a minor cut on my leg once but that was completely my own fault because I didn't have the blade screwed down tight enough. If your too scared watch a YouTube video on how to do it first.

This was my first time purchasing and using a safety razor. I bought it because I am trying to be more eco-friendly by using less plastic disposable razors and I am a woman who is fed up of paying extra for colorful "girly" razors that give a mediocre shave. This is the smoothest shave I've ever had. Was a little tricky the first few times getting used to how to hold it at a 45° angle so you dont cut yourself, but once your past that, your golden! This razor will last me years as compared to the throw aways which last a few shaves.

Ok so here it goes. I've heard so many awesome things about these razors. I bought them for the obvious reasons, eco friendly, less expensive. But what I'm oddly most surprised about is how close the shave is. Now if you are a female, or a male that likes to shave other places let me tell you a few things.1. Be VERY aware that safety razors are double sided, if you are shaving in the nether regions and aren't being careful you will cut yourself.2. The angle is very important, it doesn't pivot so it takes some getting used to3. GO SLOW. Treat it like a Sweeny Todd blade. If you don't want to be bleeding candy goo, then go slow. These aren't meant for last minute rushing to get out the door but I'm wearing shorts so gotta shave. If you rush it you WILL cut yourself.Keeping those things in mind it's just a matter of getting used to. I will absolutely NEVER go back to disposable razors. I have zero "shadow" after I shaved my bikini line and it's the smoothest I've ever gotten it. Do yourself a favor and switch over.

Used this razor tonight and I am happy with it. but not so much the blades it came with. I tried one and quickly put in my own Gillette stainless steal blades.I have only used this type of razor, Some the butter fly some the screw together. This one has good weight to it and feels good in my hand. With my blades in I got a good smooth cut. The doors (for lack of a better word) were not floppy or lose fitting so the blade was nice and secure in the razor, I have tried others that the doors were flimsy and not well attached, this one was.It may take time to get used to the longer handle then my others but that will come i a short time I suppose.I give 4 stars not 5 because the Amazon delivery person never came to the door. We have this happen at the complex from several of the Amazon delivery people, instead of going to the apartment and knocking they just leave all the packages at the leasing office even if no one is there. I work at this complex and there have been several days where Amazon delivery simply put the packages on the floor. I have even found them outside the leasing office a few Monday mornings. If UPS and FedEx can take an elevator I don't see why Amazon can't. This does not happen with every driver just some but it is more often then not.

For the ladies to use that is...Close shave, took care of the delicate areas.A few nicks the first time, but that is typical for me with all razors. My only complaint is that the head is a little bulky, so it's a little difficult to maneuver in those tight areas.Overall I am pleased.

More women should really try these out. It’s perfect for shaving and for me, tends to get a better close shave. Not to mention you aren’t clogging up a five blade razor with only one swipe of hair.

I like this razor a lot; it is nice looking and dark in color when most are bright chrome. I am pleased that it is heavy enough to do most of the work when shaving. The butterfly open mechanism is smooth and closes tightly. Then why three stars? Well, upon visual inspection, when loaded with a Derby Extra stainless steel blade, I noticed that the blade was not aligned in the center so it was exposed more on one side then the other. I though it may have been a defective blade, so I loaded another of the same blades, but the problem persisted. I loaded a Gillette Silver Blue blade, and, although there was less misalignment with this blade, it was still present. I will add photos of the razor showing the difference in blade exposure on the two edges. I went ahead and shaved with it, and did not cut myself, but I could tell the difference between the shaves with each edge. I will shave a few more times to see if I have any problems and will update the post. I think I may have simply received a defective product; from the other reviews, the shave seems to be fairly mild for most, so I cannot imagine the blade is overly exposed on too many, so it still may be worth a buy at the price point for anyone looking to get into DE shaving.

I absolutely love this razor. I got it, as a female, to replace using disposable razors. It was a great decision. It is so easy to use! I’ve only cut myself once with it versus how I used to cut myself like 5 times every time with disposables. I love how this was budget friendly. I haven’t had any trouble with ingrown hairs, razor burn, etc. The shave is smooth and lasts. I’m shaving once a week now where before I was shaving twice a week. If you’re thinking about trying a safety razor don’t hestitate! Give this one a try. You will be doing yourself and the environment a huge favor.

First, the appearance: This razor isn't black, it's "black chrome" or "gunmetal". It matches exactly my Fisher Titanium Space Pen, and IMHO is gorgeous!Second, functionality: The butterfly design of this razor was patented by King Gillette in 1905 and has been in successful use by millions of men ever since. I prefer it over the modern multi-blade razors and non-butterfly double-edge razors because I can quickly loosen the butterfly mechanism, flush the whiskers out with hot water, and reclose it in seconds. With the multi-blade razors I can never efficiently clean between the blades after a shave. This is a problem with multi-blade razors particularly for men like me who don't shave every day. A week's harvest of whiskers will hopelessly clog a modern multi-blade. Not so with this double-edge butterfly!Third, shaving experience: I get as close a shave with this razor using Astra Platinum blades as I do with my Trac II. The Astra blades I purchased with the Weishi are quality, and are a bargain at under 10 cents each.Fourth, build quality: I disagree with the reviews criticizing this razor for alleged miss-aligned butterfly mechanisms. Mine was in perfect functioning order. Those users who experienced miss-alignment undoubtedly dropped their razors or were sent a returned item that had been dropped by a prior user. You can't drop a precision instrument and then expect it to work flawlessly.Fifth: concerns: My only concern is the longevity of this razor given that it is not stainless steel or zinc alloy (unlike the comparable Warmlife alternative sold by Amazon). At this price, however, who cares if it doesn't last a lifetime. In any event, you may extend its life by cleaning just the head and not the handle of the razor, and by opening the butterfly mechanism between uses to dry out.Happy shaving!!

I had considered getting a DE razor for several years, but after reading extensively about them I was convinced they were not for me. Mainly, because I quickly shave in the shower using only running hot water as lubricant and I did not want to spend the time to do the full setup and process with the brush, cream. Most opinions state that one will not benefit unless they do it the right way.I was wrong, and this razor has changed my life. This razor is so affordable, I thought: this might not be for me, but why not just give it a try?First shave in the shower with this razor was very smooth and clean. I was very gentle and I came out unscathed. Even though this is my first DE razor and my first experience with a DE razor, I have never cut myself badly so I suppose some would say this is not aggressive and good for beginners to DE shaving. My shaves are now super close and clean, something I could never get with a Gillette 3-5 blade razor. Best of all, replacement blades are so cheap (I have been using Feather blades with this)! No more wasting hundreds on overpriced cartridges.Experience aside, the actual razor is solid and aesthetically pleasing. Blades are easy to replace. I dropped it once in the tub and thought it was a goner but I just snapped one of the pieces back into place and it is perfectly the same. One minor issue - when the razor came out of the box there was a tiny tiny glob of extra metal on the edge of the razor where the blade should sit. This caused the blade to bend a bit and not be perfectly straight. But a few swipes from a file totally eliminated this issue.

I bought this as my first DE razor based on price point and good review. Not sure what I was expecting for something so cheap, but not working out so well for me. I shave my neck and have super sensitive skin. The blade doesn't get bent very much when you close the razor so it doesn't follow the contour of the head and kind of sticks out so you have to use a pretty extreme angle to have a mild shave which is annoying/ not forgiving at all. There is also a pretty decent sized gap between the blade and the guard which is an aggressive characteristic. Basically this is like shaving with a blade on a stick. It works if you're good, but the head shape doesn't really help you and it's tough to find the right angle to use with it. I'm looking forward to trying another razor already and hopefully bleeding a little less.

Began wetshaving, and this was the first razor I purchased as I heard it had good value for the price. It was decent for with the grain shaving, less so for across/against the grain, even using a variety of blades. From my experience, it tended to do better with sharper blades (eg feather or polsilver). I tended to get more nicks with less sharp blades. However, I noticed the Weishi results, even with a 3 pass shave, were not as good as a 3 pass shave with a disposable cartridge style razor.Later, I upgraded to a ~$30 Merkur razor, which gave me closer shaves with LESS nicks than the Weishi model. Looking back, I would have rather paid more to get an effective razor than buy the WEISHI

Real quick-I'm very impressed with this razor! I've been safety razor shaving for about 4 years now and have collected a few razors for the fun of it. This shaves every bit as well as the other, more expensive ones that I own! The weight is great and it seems to be very well made, especially for the price. I mainly bought it because it was a butterfly, I didn't want to spend very much, and the reviews were encouraging. I was going to give it 4 stars because I'm not sure about the durability of it (or anything after just a month), but it deserves 5 stars. If you want to try out this type of shaving, or you've been doing it forever, it's a great choice, in my opinion... Just bag the blades that come with it and use your favorites (I use Astra and Feather blades).

I took the plunge and picked this DE, since I heard it was mild--it's hard to cut yourself, but the shave it gives me is very satisfactory.. I would say it's equivalent to a DORCO 4/6 disposable razor (I used to use this) in terms of getting a close shave. The disposable blades that come with the Weishi are not great; wouldn't give the shave I need. The blades I bought immediately were the Astra blades and oh man..they're awesome; and I saved money rather than getting those disposable razors. Also, works great with canned shaving foam, if you're like me lazy to do it the proper way..lol

I've been looking for a butterfly handle for a while now... I've had my old one for 5 years and would always get nervous when it came time to switch out the blades. This one has great reviews, and for only $16, I figured why not. It's been a great handle... but the blades. Ugh.It shipped with a box of blades, so I figured I'd give them a shot. First shave with the razor tore my face up. My hair is usually pretty thick and I change blades every 3 or 4 shaves anyways, so I figured I'd try a new blade. Being military, I shave daily, so it's not like I had a 5-day beard to combat. Next day? Same terrible shave. Finally got smart and put in one of my usual Astra blades... worked like a charm.

I bought this safety razor a couple years ago and I'm still using it today and love it. Originally bought this after a friend introduced me to the world of shaving with a safety razor. I had been using the five blade cartridges all my life where I was used to simply smashing the blades against my skin and dragging them across my face. Shaving with a safety razor looked fun in that you have to learn the technique of shaving with a single blade. I also liked the fact that you replace the blade with a fresh one every few uses and the blades are ridiculously inexpensive. I bought this particular safety razor because I liked the look of it and the price was cheap. I figured I'd upgrade and buy a more expensive one later if I liked and continued shaving with a safety razor. Fast forward a couple years later, I'm still using this safety razor and love it and have no intentions of buying a new one anytime soon.Shaving with a safety razor is surprisingly fun. Sometimes it's just fun to get back to basics. Ditch the expensive five blade cartridges!

A few months ago I decided to try switching from disposable razor cartridges to a safety razor, not only for cost purposes but also because I didn't like throwing all that plastic away. Based on decent reviews I ordered this Weishi unit and it's been great. As many reviewers have noted it took me a few shaves to get to the point where I was getting a close shave without nicks, but as I got better I grew to prefer this to the cartridges. Not only do I get a good shave at a lower price, but somehow my skin actually feels better - maybe it's the smooth metal of this unit instead of plastic, or the blade itself, but whatever it is it feels good. I follow every shave with a good after-shave lotion (I highly recommend Cade from L'Occitane - pricey but excellent). Be aware that in the beginning I nicked myself a few times because I didn't have the butterfly doors closed all the way, newbie error, easily remedied.

I finally decided to switch to the good old fashioned double edge razor after spending tons of money on those disposable blade cartridges. After investing in this fine butterfly opening razor, my shaves feel even closer! It does take some getting used to. The handle has a nice weight to it. As one reviewer said (or maybe I read it on a blog), let the weight of the blade holder do the work for you--don't press into your skin too hard. Also, if you don't get the right angle, you will knick yourself (just small pin-hole sized bleeds that clot up usually pretty quick).I strongly recommend shaving AFTER your shower, and apply a hot water washcloth for a minute or two before you start shaving. Experiment with shaving creams out there. Everyone' skin is different. After a lot of research, I realized that some people like one cream while others hate it, and some like another while others hate it.

Pros: It fits really nicely in my hand and i have larger hands, the butterfly opening mechanism opens very easily and is extremely quick clean and easy to change blades, the Finish is a nice grey black chrome looks good on a shaving stand in the bathroom, has a very nice balance and weight to it, isnt that aggressive of a shave. Cons: when opening the butterfly mechanism the "wings" raise evenly and nicely up to a point and then they kind of flop open, alot of rattling and they flop back and forth but do not flop closed less than a quarter of an inch of movement merely a cosmetic issue has nothing to do with holding the blade and place or changing blades. The material that the razor is coated in causes my particular shaving cream to create a film all over the razor and it is very hard to rub off but again a cosmetic issue has nothing to do with the performance of the razor it shaves beautifully all-around great safety razor for the money would definitely recommend to friends and family who are interested in safety razor shaving

Women, here's a review for us:Or for anyone else who shaves their arm pits, legs, and pubic region.I can't say enough about this razor. I have been using this type of razor for two weeks now and really enjoy it. I used to use Venus razors but I could never tell when they were done, and they are so expensive so naturally I would use one for a month or longer, like a dencent lady working on a budget. My boyfriend made the switch almost a year ago and I figured I'd give it a go.I read reviews, specifically from women and heard things like no razor bumps and closest shave, and I can attest that the rumors are true. Since using the razor my arm pit bumps are nearly gone. I can't say for my bikini line just yet. As for closest shave, it really depends on the blades you use - I got a variety pack and still haven't quite found my blade. Now for making the switch and how to not cut yourself. The first time I used this type of razor I didn't cut myself. If you go slow, pay attention, and use it like any other razor you'll be fine. There are numerous tutorial videos you can watch if you feel uneasy. I got cocky on my second shave and nicked my knee, which is possible with any razor. I just shave in the shower and use a bar of soap, but just because life on a budget.I could tell the moment my blade got dull too. But so you have an idea: 1 double edge razor for legs, one leg for each side, and one dbl blade will get about 4-5 days of arm pit shaves. The long handle one was suggested and I must say I fully agree. They're about 4" long. Good luck!

So far it's good. My issue with all previous razors is that my extremely hard water causes them to rust once they get the slightest nick in the finish. I try to be as careful as possible, but then the threads get the chrome worn away and it starts to rust there. I bought this partially because of the butterfly design hoping that there would be less chance for it to rust and whatnot. It's only been a month but it shows no signs of rust or corrosion at all yet. I'll update in the future.

Got this as a gift for my dad, and he absolutely loves it.He had a Merkur, but it was stolen while we were on vacation. (Who steals a used safety razor, honestly?)Anyway, he's in his 60's now and he's a bit more "sausage-fingered" than he was when he was younger. (thus why I went with the longer handle as well). He remembered having a butterfly opening safety razor back in the 70's, and I got to thinking that this was probably safer (as well as more familiar) for him than the Merkur two piece design one that was stolen (so I guess the stolen razor could have been a bit of a blessing in disguise). So far, it's holding up great from what I hear (it's only been about 3 months as of posting this, but so far it appears to have been well worth the money), but he absolutely loves it, and I am happy that he has a razor that requires he handle the blade less with his tendency to fumble around small and lightweight objects.

Initial thoughtsReading the reviews about product damage and issues I was reluctant to purchase this but I'm glad I did.UnboxingThe box (manufacturer not Amazon) was damaged but luckily the razor was not. There was no damage or blemishes and the mechanism worked just fine.Size & WeightThe razor is slightly longer than the Merkur Long Handle (best of the best). The weight is comparable. I still would go for the Merkur if you decide you're loving this type of razor but this is a great starter and very easy to use with the butterfly opening.Razor BladesI did not use the blade it came with. I did use Feather blades which are some of the best. These blades are extremely sharp and not as forgiving as the Merkur blades. I also found that some blades work better for others. I tried others and found only these two brands to my liking and worked for me.The shaveI was very careful initially not knowing the angle (blade opening) and how it would perform. I found the angle is actually less than the Merkur razor making it much more forgiving with using too much pressure or the wrong angle even with the Feather blades. The shave was nice and smooth and I didn't notice a difference using this razor vs the other. After a couple shaves, feeling more comfortable, I put more pressure to test its forgiveness and did not cut myself. Had I used the same pressure with the Merkur, I would have a cut. I even used it to trim sideburns (without using clippers first) and it performed like a champ.ConclusionWhile it's not the flagship Merkur Long Handle or the Merkur Vision 2000, it is a great razor for all skill levels, especially beginners, and won't break the bank.Skill levelI've been using a safety razor four 4 years and can work around my goatee with the safety razor alone.

I received this razor about a week ago and have shaved with it twice now.I'm an older man and remember well the single edged and these double edged razors from long ago. When the plastic disposable razors were introduced they were all the rage and we all had to get modern and buy them. They were very inexpensive back then and they completely took over the shaving manufacturing and marketing industry. When I first used this steel razor I thought for sure I was going to cut and nick myself.Wrong, didn't.. Amazingly my hand remembered how to slide the blade across the skin with just the right pressure and angle. I hadn't used a DE steel razor since about 1973.My goodness, what a wonderful shaving experience. The results are clean and smooth skin.I also received a pack of 100 double edged razor blades and I think I should get many shaves from each one. This 100 pack of razors should last me two years at least. After all those years of using the new plastic disposable razors, I'm right back to the technology of my youth. This Steel Weishi razor is beautiful old school high tech.

Love being able to rinse and clean the razor and blade very easily. Nice heft and size. Excellent, close, smooth shave with the Personna double edge razor blades that I also ordered. Easy to clean, dry, and put away for next time ... no gunk, no junk, just a clean dry blade for next time. Use an electric razor between razor shaves to knock down the stubble. Razor and 100 blades are going to last me YEARS and the shave is very clean, smooth, and high quality.I still have my "Fusion" multi-blade razor with new blades (for wife's use) ... I personally don't miss it or want it. I'm at an age where I'm rejecting gratuitous technology for the sake of technology, like multi blades you cannot clean and 'load' up with stubble, soap or shaving cream. As another example, just dumped an electronically controlled dryer that quit working because the electronic board crapped out one day. Got a traditional but perfectly great mechanical-controls only dryer, brand new for a fraction of the whizz-bang high-end appliances and I already like it infinitely better and dries 50% faster using a few simple settings, no PHD required for your 58 different 'options'. The "whizz-bang" high-end is all WAY more trouble than it's worth, designed to sell you extended warranties or force you to buy "new" because the 'fix' costs almost as much as replacement ... simplify your life ... then make your tee-time, and don't slice the ball off the tee, and be happy at the 19th hole.
