This was amazing on our vacation! My six year old loved it. She wrote in it every day. when she was bored in the hotel at the end of the day she would write her days events and do some if the activities

We took a family trip to Hawaii, and I wanted to get my six year old a travel journal that could help him document his trip and also practice writing while we were gone. I had looked at a few online and ended up choosing this one because of the high reviews, variety of "activities" and just the overall impression I got from reading about it vs others. I was really pleased with it! It is certainly great for my six year old (he reads and writes well for a Kindergartener), though I would say if your child isn't a strong writer, this might not be the greatest option...as you're paying for a prompt filled book! Certainly some Kinders and 1st grade on up would get benefit from it. It has a lot of great spaces to write about all facets of a trip. Some examples:*A page to write where are you going & who is coming with you*Trip itinerary pages*Detailed journal pages (which include "rating" happy faces and check boxes so they can rate the day)*"Top 10" page for them to write the top things they experienced*State/Location information page about interesting stuff about the place they're vacationing*Games for travelThere are certainly other things, but these were the ones my son liked the best. It was fun to help him review each day and write a sentence or two about what we did and how he felt...but certainly it could be more independent for older kids. I'd say the ideal range would be 6 to 12/13. It was a great investment and he'll have it to keep and remember forever!

My kids love the journal book. They write on it everyday on our trip. When we come back they share the book with their friends and grandparents. Very good memory keeper. The only thing I don't like it is that this book is designed for one trip. I hope it can be used for multiple trips.

Bought this for my daughter to use on our next trip. It is so cute, has so many great things for her to fill out before we leave, while we are gone and when we come home. It also has pages of things to do on the plane. Such a great book!

I have 3 boys and my husband and are taking them to Spain over thanksgiving. We wanted to make the kids more engaged so we ordered 3 different brands of travel journals from amazon. This one was definitely the best for our 9 and 11 yr old. It has some prompts but also is mostly free writing space. There are 15 pages for writing, and then pages to fill out before the trip, and games. My 7 yr old chose a different journal so I think this is definitely for older kids.

My daughter has inherited my love of notebooks or maybe it's been nurtured in her, but this is a fantastic journal for her to use during her first big international trip. I love the prompts; they aren't overly complicated, but will help her think a bit about her experiences. Love that there are simple games and activities for her to do on our downtime or on the long plane rides. Was thrilled to see the ABC game, as that is something we've been playing for years on our road trips.

Bought this as a gift for a friend who is taking her son (2nd grade) to an amazing African Safari. The book is great quality and has all kinds of fun ways to entice children to enter their day and remember their travel in a beautiful keepsake.

Looks great! For me the size is just right for travel, mid size notebook. Hard bound. Inside content encouraged the kids to be artistic, also have space for journal type entries. My 9 year old likes it and is excited for an upcoming trip.

We bought two of these and had a lot of fun with them. The journal is set up for 14 days of a trip. There are sections for what to preparing (how will you travel, packing lists, a page for addresses); daily pages that are a nice combo of prompts and open space for drawing or writing; puzzle pages (word searches, crossword puzzles, mazes); and black pages. My 5 year old didn't use the whole thing at all, but she did do something in every part and the journal pages she filled out are precious. We loved the strap and the pocked in the back as well.

I really love the concept of this book. We travel a lot and this is a great way for my son to record his travels. This book is for one trip. I would have to purchase a book for each trip. I would like to somehow incorporate this idea for multiple trips in one journal.

Had our twelve year-old use this for the family's second annual [8-day] road-trip: made him update it every day (at the end or the morning after -- can't go out until it's done.) He grudgingly started it but got into logging down his thoughts. I didn't require more than a mention of what places and special items there were done but it turned out that he elaborated those points that he thought were important (not that I agreed with him as to what was "important" but it was his journal after all.) At the end of the trip, had him do the summary sections and put the accumulated maps in the journal's back pocket. Interestingly, he gave the whole journal experience a "thumb's up" -- from my standpoint, he was more likely to remember the trip if he did something besides go along for the ride (NOTE: Our first annual [10-day] road-trip, to the northwestern US National Parks and Monuments, made use of the Ranger Badge tasks at each Park/Monument -- he clearly remembers what was done at each park and wishes to return to each.)

This is a good journal, but not enough just plain open space for my needs, and only 14 daily entry pages. It's really formatted for an international trip and best suited to that purpose. We're just going to California, and for 2.5 weeks, so it just doesn't work for our purposes. It's construction is high quality, would probably be durable even in a kid's hands, where I assume it would take at least a little abuse.

Great prompts for young ones. My 6 year old enjoyed the prompts. They vary and aren't repetitive. It would work well for a 2 weeks + trip. It isn't good if you want something multiple trips.

Both my 10 & 8 year old loved the book. We took it on a recent 12-day vacation to Hawaii and the kids had fun recording their adventures in it. I wanted to limit the amount of time they spend on electronic devices and this journal was the perfect replacement. They spent quite a bit of time on the plane ride filling in the first few pages about our destination and then we arrived, they recorded their daily adventures and rated the days. There are several activity pages in the back of the book and they had fun doing those when they weren't writing notes. I would definitely get 2 copies of this book again for our next vacation. This book is intended to use for one vacation/trip and not multiple ones.

It was received enthusiastically by my granddaughter and she can't wait to use it on her first cruise next month. She found one of my travel journals and was curious about it. As I explained what it was, she asked if she could have one. This one is a perfect start to a great way of remembering her travels and vacations. Thank you for a great buy!

Great little book. I purchased it for my five year old so that he can document our upcoming trip to Pigeon Forge this summer. It is part of his Easter basket so he hasn't gotten a chance to check it out yet. This journal is age appropriate for children five and older. It is clearly written but not too simplistic that older children wouldn't enjoy it also. I look forward to reading it after our vacation is over to see how my child viewed our vacation through his eyes. Great memories!

This journal is just under 100 pages, so it's going to be good for even a longer trip (think weeks instead of days). Some kids are natural "expressers," some aren't. When I was young, I had no problem filling up page after page with random thoughts. But my son, who is only just beginning to really write, tends to be focused and brief. This journal can work for BOTH of those writing styles. There is plenty of free space to draw or write whatever you want, but there are lots of helpful writing prompts, too, that help keep ideas flowing.Plus, there are big, colorful graphics that not only keep the journal looking fun and interesting, but also take up space so that the journal doesn't feel or look so ominously blank. It's a nice balance. The journal is hardcover, but still light to carry. There is a little pocket in the back of the book for carrying papers or (very thin) souvenirs. Overall, the journal looks really nice and functions well.Peter Pauper Press gave me a free book to review.

Loved taking this on our Spring Break road trip. Great for a single vacation. Nice prompts to spark their story. Hard bound and stands up to kids.
