The 19 Qt Engle is perfect size for an all day road trip, picnic for two and it keeps the ice frozen and the items well chilled all day. It does not leak when tipped over with the latches closed and is not too bulky. The recessed handle is nice and the nylon shoulder strap makes it easy to sling over the back for carrying with the hand free.

Cooler is very nice & well worth the money. My husband has only been using it a few days as a lunch bucket for work but so far he is happy. Roomy inside big enough to hold a 12 hour shifts worth of drinks & snacks. He works in the mines in sometimes wet conditions & was impressed that no water leaks in. The cooler is heavy enough to feel solid but not as heavy as I expected & thats a good thing. Latches & hinges are replaceable which helps to alliviate any concerns about wear and tear. I'll update later on durability if we have any issues.

I purchased my Engel 19 this past summer and I use it everyday for work. I work construction and it keeps my food cold and water packs frozen all day. I have been very pleased with my cooler and would highly recommend it. My only problem was the buckle for the strap broke and when I contacted Engel (e-mail) I never heard back from them. I would have been happy to buy a new one buckle, but I didn't hear anything from them. So now, I've got a piece of white electrical tape holding my shoulder strap together.

I ordered Friday and received it Tuesday, so shipping was good even though it was through “prime” . I opened the cooler, glad that it had finally arrived and there is already damage (scratches on the top handle) !! I attatched a photo I took. It’s brand new , if there’s any scratches or wear and tear it should be done by me .in due time. Definitely not already to begin with.. There was also damage on the back hinge where it closes. Such a shame because it’s a great size for a lunchbox. It is way better than the 13quart and it does not look huge where you would look silly using it

I use this for overnight trips at work. It keeps food cold for two days. I work for the railroad and my gear broken pretty quick. I've been beating it up for several months. It still looks brand new.

I purchased this cooler to use as a sous vide tank. However the outer shell of the cooler cracked under the weight of 10 quarts of water (used less than 20 times. Waiting to receive correspondence for their warranty department - which is definitely hasn't been timelyLikes: cheapDislikes: the price definitely reflects the craftsmanship, overall quality and nonexistent customer service. Trying to do an warranty claim through the Engel site. But they've not responded in their outlined timeframe listed on their warranty page. Save your money and look at cheap igloo/coleman type cooler - same level of quality and cheaper11/14 and I still haven’t received a response from the Engel Warranty Department!!

Awesome little cooler. Use it on job sites for my food and drinks. Has a great little dry storage spot for your phone or whatever else you don't want wet. Works great for all I use it for. Seals good and keeps stuff cold for quite a while. Very durable and holds up to the harsh conditions on a job site, planes, mud and in the back of the truck. Would definitely recommend this product to anybody that needs a small sized cooler or a decently sized lunch box for the job site or the boat. Five stars here

It’s excellent I just I had ordered a larger one in one of the colors, one is a medicine box for me the other night teen court is a medicine box for my dogs one of the 17 course is for supplements and I haven’t figured out the other 17 court yet but since they give me my medication three months at a time and a lot of it comes in boxes, this is perfect it frees up a lot of space for me to put other things away

This cooler was amazing in the desert for 11 days and kept my refreshments nice and cold. All I did was refresh the gel packs 1-2 times a day and had fresh, cold cocktail makings for the duration of my trip. It was in the full desert sun for most of the day and was a champ. The size and shape are perfect to strap onto the back of anything with a flat surface . I bought an extra tray and having two in there was great for limes and cutlery storage. Highly recommended.

Love love love! Well built, sturdy strap, union boilermaker working turnarounds, it carries breakfast lunch and dinner, with 1/2 gallon of tea, and all my trinkets in the tray, I wish I had this 20 years ago when I started!!!

The product build is solid and it keeps ice for the day, longer than cheaper coolers but still not long as I’d like. Going to get the next biggest size for more ice. If you’re looking for something for a day trip or for quick trips this will do the job.

One of the best lunch boxes ever purchased. You get what you pay for. This box has plenty of room for all your lunch, and snack need. Plus extra storage space as shown in photo. Highly recommend this.

I purchased this cooler to keep things cold for a few hours while traveling, but I was pleasantly surprised by how long it it retained ice. I tried it for the first time on a day when the high was just over 90 degrees. I loaded it with a chilled twelve pack. Unfortunately, the ice I bought that day had just been bagged and placed in a freezer, so it was wet and melting quickly on the short ride home. There was already a significant amount of water in the ice bag when I poured the ice in the cooler, so I figured it wouldn't last more than 6 or 8 hours even though it was in the shade. However, after opening and closing the cooler throughout the afternoon as well as a few times the next morning to see if it was still cold, it still had ice in it after 17 hours. With colder ice, I have no doubt the ice would have lasted close to 24 hours. If you're thinking this will hold ice as long as a Yeti 20-quart, it won't. This is a 5.5-pound cooler vs the Yeti that weighs in at about 15 pounds. Yeti designs their cooler to do one thing; hold ice for as long as possible. The Engel 19-quart is designed to be compact, lightweight and retain ice for a reasonable amount of time -- all of which were considerations for me. So, if you need your ice to last for days, buy a heavy-duty, roto-molded model. If you need a small, lightweight, high-quality cooler for day-use, this is the cooler for you.

Really happy with this cooler. I'm using it for a lunch box, although I'm sure it's going to see some double duty down at the lake. Keeps my stuff cool all day. Nice and light, solid construction. The tray inside could fit a little better. It falls down once in awhile. Not a big deal but it wouldn't take much to make it better. I would also prefer a little longer carry strap with a padded shoulder piece. I will be making one in the near future.

I use this cooker for a lunch box. The only negative is the latches are a little bit of a pain to open up and secure if you are trying to get a drink while driving. Other than that it has worked out well and holds a gallon jug of water and plenty of food. The included basket is nice for car keys and wallet or anything else you do not want to have to dig for.

My boyfriend is a rig welder . he often has to eat out in the middle of no where . this cooler keeps the ice well and food fresh. I'm a safety attendant and considering buying one for my self it has a good strap and can hold my weight. If I use it as a seat.

Great lunchbox for construction. Would be nice if it had a lock but not a deal breaker. This is my second Engel, gave other one to a friend. This item is very well made.

While I like the build quality of this cooler, the main reason I purchased it was for performance (as indicated by most of the reviews and endorsements from family members). I have been using this cooler 5 days a week for over a month and i am very disappointed with it. At the end of the day, my blue ice blocks are almost thawed. My previous daily cooler was an Igloo Maxcold 24 can. The same blue ice blocks would be totally frozen at the end of the day and clearly would last through another day. Wish Igloo still made it!I have noticed that the walls and bottom of the Engel have noticable "give" when pressed while the Igloo walls do not. I wonder if this Engel is lacking insulation...I will be contacting Engel's warranty department and see what they have to say...

I bought this for my hubby to take his lunches in for work. Tons of space, keeps stuff cool, and extremely sturdy. The 19qt is perfect for lunches and all the extras plant guys need.

This is an honest review for people like me who want to use this as a cooler. I will try to be as factual as possible. I bought it for a 3 day canoe trip. I didn't expect this cooler to hold ice for 3 days, but I wanted the water tight seal. I have no doubt this cooler/drybox works fantastic as a dry box or lunch box. But as a cooler it's very OK. I placed four 9"x10" freezer packs inside of it. Basically it filled the cooler. After an hour or so, I touched the cooler on the outside and felt that it was very cold. I picked it up and the floor it was sitting on was cold as well. Not good because the cold was getting through the insulation. I left it overnight in my dining room (4pm - 10am). When I woke up I checked the cooler and the freezer packs were liquid. This was in winter so my house was 68-70 degrees (Florida). The quality is still good and overall I really like it, but to call it a cooler is a bit of a stretch.I lined the dry box with 1" styrofoam and repeated my experiment... the freezer packs are still half frozen after 29hrs.Despite it's lack of insulation, I feel its a good, quality product.

I wanted to love the cooler. Am disappointed in the product. I was only trying to keep cold beverages cold on a 4-day trip. I used multiple large and small frozen blue ice packs and placed it out of the sun. Nighttime temps in high 30s and daytime temps mod50s to upper 60s. I had to check it about every 15 hours. The cooler wouldn't even keep the blue ice from thawing. Ice would have been worse. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT put food into with any hope of it staying cold.

It's a good cooler I use it for my lunch. It keeps things cold all day and night. I give it two star's because the hinge crack the second day I use it. So I glued it I will order a new hinge. The hinge should have been metal then they won't break. They told me that they would replace the crack hinge for free once. Then I would have to pay to replace. The hinge are made poorly they know that they can't handle the lids weight. So I replace my hinges with one from the hardware store with metal ones working good.

Really cool lunchbox and also very spacious. I have put various stickers on mine and also changed out the strap and have receiver several compliments on how awesome it looks. I have also had friends purchase this lunch box because they liked how mine looked. It keeps all my stuff nice and dry in it.

2 months in and no complaints. Seems well made. I keep it in the rear bin of my truck with bottled water and ice. In August we were still averaging 100 degree weather. The ice was melted by about 3 pm but the waters were still plenty cold. Compared to my old ice chest (not sure of brand) the ice would be melted by 11 am in the summer. I have no idea how it would stack up to a yeti but I am completely satisfied with this one.

The name ENGEL USA is deceiving since the cooler is made in Thailand or somewhere like that. Overall it's a pretty good lunch box but I wish that it had metal hinges in the back like the metal locking clips in the front but it doesn't. The front locking clips are made of metal but the hinges in back are made of plastic which doesn't make any sense. A little pricey but other than that I would buy it again

the 19 quart cooler was a great size for 2 people for a day. We took this on a kayaking day trip. Inside i fit 4 of the small square tupperware containers, each holding a sandwich, as well as 2 soda cans, 7 bottled waters or teas, and several capri sun pouches. (I took the tray out so everything could fit)Granted, that didn't leave a ton of room for ice, but everything stayed nice a cold.Insulation: ice doesnt seem to keep long in this cooler. I've used it twice, and both times the ice melted fast. Once the ice melts though, the water stays cold. Just make sure everything is in something water tight and you're good.Watertight/drybox: 10 out of 10. The latched stay locked, even when flipped upside down in a kayak. No extra water got in, no water got out. I've only used it as a cooler, not as a dry box, but I have every confidence that it would keep everything well protected.Handle: gotta watch the little handle on the lid, it'll pinch your fingers if you let it close on you. The shoulder strap does help with this.Carrying: When it's full, it weighs a decent bit. Makes it a bit heavy if you have to carry it very far. It isn't too bulky though so that helps to compensate for the weight.

No doubt a great cooler. Does what is advertise. I work in heavy commercial construction wanted a cooler that can keep food cold inn the worst of summer heat and humidity, this can love the shoulder strap. However I doubt if this cooler would hold up to the abuse and longevity of my old Coleman. I love the tray inside metal snaps will probably go someday its expensive for a cooler but its nice. Also held up during the cold of winter.

Doesn't keep things cold any longer than a Coleman.

I bought the 19 quart and I love it. I put a 12 pack of longneck bottles and 2 16oz. DrPeppers with a small bag of ice and still had room. This Ice Chest is amazing. Great quality and easy to carry with just the handle on top. I highly recommend it.

We loved it at first, but after one month , one of the hinges is broken! They're just plastic. I'm very disappointed, because I think it was very expensive for a lunch box. I hope I can get a replacement hinge. UPDATE: The company will not replace the hinges, even though we've used it just about one month. They'll let us buy new hinges, but say that it's wear and tear not covered by the warranty. I think they must have been bad hinges in the first place. My husband did not misuse or abuse the lunch box. So, a $60 lunch box lasted all of one month before it broke, and the company won't stand behind its product. I'll order the hinges, but they've lost a formerly happy customer. It seems to be a poor business decision to refuse to fix something so small that lasted no time at all.

I bought this for a kayak trip down the Suwannee River. I basically used it for a dry box for my camera equipment and other electronics. It worked like a charm. I have yet to use it as a cooler, but the seal is great and I am sure it will perform well. I am actually gonna pick up the 30qt next.

I just received this cooler Monday. I really like it, however I noticed that it seems to have already have stress points on the hinges. I am not sure how many people have this issue but I will try to keep everyone updated on changes in the future.

I ordered this cooler for my boyfriend and he loves it. It is large enough to keep all his liquids and food for lunch. It also has a tray inside that he can use for keep his personal items like cellphone, keys, etc. This box is also waterproof and airtight. I like it a lot too so I am thinking about ordering the 13Q pink one for my self

Pros- keeps stuff cool. Fits a fair amount of stuff. Has a tray that's included. Fits in x-ray scanner at plants. Rugged design, means it will take bumps,Cons. Attached a pad to the strap. Dosent come with one. I knew that, easy fix.
