It is a very nice product which I have wanted to own for some time. It is much different from the laptops I am used to and I am working through the changes and getting more accustomed to the operation. I have not experienced an major issues so far and will continue to use it until I am satisfied with its operation. They are not for everyone but I am pleased with my purchase so far.

When my PC broke down a few weeks back, I decided to give a mac a try. The majority of people I know use macs and love them, and I've had macs in the past and always thought they were pretty decent. I guess the main benefit of this mac over a PC, in my opinion, is the size. It's a small machine, very portable and easy to carry with you. For that reason alone, I will give it 3-stars. That said, I am pretty shocked at how limited the Mac interface feels at this point. It hasn't changed at all. It feels so far behind on functionality. A lot of the software is more limited for mac. There are things I could breeze through on my PC & I struggle to find the functionality on the mac. Some of it, I am convinced doesn't exist. A lot of software is made for PC and there are plugins and extensions, and everything works together flawlessly. I guess you get used to whatever you've got, but at this point, I haven't seen much benefit in this mac, aside from it being more "petite". I've actually had some really slow processing when doing regular work in Adobe software, really, really slow. The kind of speed my OLD, old, old PC would experience. How can a brand new, modern, computer, run like that? I am not the biggest fan of this computer, but it is what I decided to get and now I am stuck with it. Hopefully, my experience improves.

One slick powerful machine!!! My advice to those considering a MacBook Pro! If you’re going to bite the bullet on a $1000+ laptop, bite hard and get the pimp machine or buy a Lenovo or Microsoft Surface... Don’t skimp on Mac... The $999 13” MacBook Air is fine for those wanting a sexy occasional use device... but the 6-core Mac is a work horse thoroughbred ready to take to the races! The butterfly keyboard is something to get used to, but all else is prime!!!

As my new laptop after my older MBP Mid 2009 this is a huge improvement for me in terms of performance for sure. For a reason I didn't understand the new screen was somehome not comfortable for my eye and it toke some time to get used to it while it should be better than my old laptop. the issue I hated this laptop because of is that new touch bar. Beside it's 100% useless I accedentally touch esc and reload buttons allot which make mes me really angry espesially when I lose something I didn't save. I think I should have bought the cheaper one with regular keys.

Great Mac Book Pro, butBe very careful when you use the equal pay that they advertise and read the disclaimer. In short its not equal payments, they charge your credit card the full amount and then just raise the minimum card payment by the amount of the charge (amount divided by the term in months).

Disclaimer: This is my first MacBook computer I am transitioning over from using a PC for the past 12 tween/teen/college years. So my review of course is through the eyes of a rookie. The screen resolution is great, I love how it auto adjusts to the surrounding light levels. The keyboard is awkward and I really feel like apple should incorporate a numeric keypad into their 15” models. The trackpad is also pretty huge it takes up about 2/3 of the entire bottom half of the the laptop and gets in the way when you’re in the midst of typing, etc. Again, I’m still getting over the learning curves of navigating through the software so I can’t give a concrete dissertation on the iOS platform. However the performance is great. Speed is lightning fast.

Bought an i7 MacBook last year. Needed one more for my setup and bought a 6 core i9. When it arrived I noticed something wasn't right. The shrink wrap had some small holes and the seam wasn't where it should be. As I took the shrink wrap off I noticed it was a cheaper type of cellophane and not the manufacturer shrink wrap. At first I thought this might just be a return and I was just hoping someone didn't return something that was messed up but I was still aggravated that it was a return that I was getting for my $3200. I then noticed the Apple sticker was on the plastic so I knew it had been removed and definitely opened... but then I noticed what the sticker was covering... a Lenovo logo. My heart sank. While I was still sitting in the UPS parking lot I called Amazon and their SUPERB customer service prevailed again. They apologized and had my replacement order sent out next day air Saturday delivery- just in time for service Sunday morning. They provided a return label and I took it right back in and returned it to Amazon. I have been an Amazon customer for many years and this is the first time something like this has happened. There are some horrible people out there that would do something like this but it will make me be much more careful in the future when ordering expensive items online. When my replacement showed up I recorded the entire process while the driver was still there and opened the box while having my wife record. I just rather be safe than sorry now. I am very happy with my product. It has plenty of storage space, runs Ableton Live 10 Suite with ease and gives me plenty of power and memory to do what I need. I am so happy with my purchase.

Way overpriced compared to other laptops on the market and the specs are barely comparable. Windows/Mac - it doesn't matter anymore. Both platforms are great. You can get an equal laptop running Windows for almost $1000 cheaper that is so much closer to what you might want since there is more choice on the PC side..These things also break like Tiffany Crystal. So you're in for at least $700 repair if something goes wrong. The case also marks and chips like wet clay. You’ll need a protective case unless you want it to have battle scars. A decent case/cover is at least $80. So add $100 to your bill. Also - did I mention that you CANNOT upgrade these at all. EVERYTHING is soldered to the logic board. No Ram upgrade later on - no hard drive upgrade later on. And consider this - no matter what goes wrong with your laptop, the only way to fix this thing will be an entire mother board replacement - $1200-$1500 anyone? That basically means you are purchasing an unrepairable machine and Apple will just want to sell you a new one for another 3-4000 dollars 3 years from now. Oh yeah - And they raised the price on AppleCare - it's almost $400 now.And performance - don't think for a second you will get your money's worth out of the processor. They throttle this baby like you wouldn't believe. The moment it gets warm the machine slows itself down so it doesn't overheat. So you're 6 core i9 runs more like a quad core i7 and such on downward. And only Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports? Prepare to have a big bag of dongles with you - and at average $50 per dongle and you will need one for USB and Ethernet at least - add $100 to your order.I think that's it. But go ahead and buy it only if you have to.Apple used to make great laptops. But alas - nothing good lasts forever.

I've been using Macs since 1994. Love that the OS stays basically remains the same, quality product, very fast when using photoshop to open and edit hi-res files.... love it.

This Macbook exceeded by expectations, and despite the cost I'm very glad I bought it. It's built like a tank when closed, and even when it's been running for a while the metal exterior always stays cool. I think the power saving must work really well too, as the battery percentage barely moves when I shut the lid and leave it on for a day or so.The display is incredible, and I have no problems reading even the tiniest text with my 54 year old eyes. There's been nothing in the way of lag or freezing, even when running multiple applications at once. I use it for audio processing and recording, and bought it hoping that it would handle large audio files flawlessly, which it does.I don't really find the touch bar to be that useful, but I do use it sometimes. Maybe it's that I need to get used to it, but it seems like something I don't really need.Overall it's a great machine that completely satisfies my needs.

I was skeptical buying a MacBook, Ive always been a pc guy, but this thing is amazing. I have only had it for about a week but its been working like a charm. The only problem I might have with it is the battery life when Im doing video projects. Other than that I think Im going to enjoy this.

In 2017 a class action lawsuit was brought against Apple for 2013-2017 MacBooks because the keys would either not always press, or press twice. This was apparently caused by the membrane under the key interacting with normal dust. Apple agreed to replace all keyboards. In my opinion, the issue was never fixed (perhaps it was too costly) as by 2018 model has the same problems despite full troubleshooting. Often it'll insert two spaces and miss letters. Spraying the keys of this brand new machine with compressed air solved it for a time. Apple should not be continuing to sell a laptop

I think that this new 15" MacBook pro is one of the best devices for web programmers. I personally use it for that and is better than I initially expected. All the programs that I need to use run smoothly and without any bug, the screen resolution and size are perfect, I personally love the feel of the new keyboard. The touch bar is a good plus for extra option when you are running a program. In general I think this is a great product and a top laptop for my work.

Not a lot to say as it just works well!

As a PC user, this is taking some time to get used to, longer than I expected. Learning curve much longer than I expected, hopefully I will love it as much as others do.

Only issue is the ports, you have to spend extra money on Adapters to hook up your hard drive , DVD recorder, and everything else.

I am just happy, I am engineer and this baby runs Finite Element simulations smoothly.

Like most Apple products, this new MacBook Pro is a mixed bag of very good and unbelievably stupid features.I’ll start with the good:* Touch ID! A long-overdue addition, great for signing on quickly and securely.* Fast 8th generation Intel processors (6-core i7 on mine) and super-fast SSD storage. Now the bad:* That keyboard! In their idiotic quest to make the Macbook Pro another fraction of a millimeter thinner, Apple took what was arguably the best laptop keyboard ever made (with “scissor-switch” keys that were super-comfortable, extremely reliable, and nearly dead-silent) and replaced it a couple years ago with “butterfly-switch” keys, which are noisy, uncomfortable, and so unreliable that Apple is now facing a class-action lawsuit as a result. The mid-2018 version adds a silicone membrane under each key to cushion each keystroke and make it quieter, but it’s still much noisier and much harsher to type on than my 2013 model. Reliability is still questionable, especially since (according to CNET) Apple says they didn’t make any engineering changes to address the problems.* The TouchBar, which replaced the row of function keys. It was very confusing at first, since key selection and placement varied depending on which app was currently in use. I’m used to having the function keys in the same place every time, but the TouchBar was constantly changing. I finally discovered that in the System Preferences > Keyboard settings, I could customize the TouchBar to keep all my familiar keys in the same place, no matter what app I was using. It’s now much easier to use, but it’s no improvement over the old but still very-useful row of fixed function keys.* The Retina screen. It’s good, but outdated. This is the 7th year Apple has used the same screen resolution, while virtually every other manufacturer now offers 4K screen options on their laptops.* No ports except USB-C. Gone are the USB-A, HDMI, and Thunderbolt 2 ports, along with the SD card slot and even the mag-safe power port. Connecting older peripherals requires purchasing the appropriate dongle -- a cumbersome solution and a waste of money, considering Apple could have easily included additional ports in the machine itself. If my old Macbook Pro wasn't starting to fail after several years of constant use, I would never have purchased this new model. At least I didn't have to pay full price, since it was 10% off during Thanksgiving week.

I bought it for upgrade from 2015 model. According to reviews preparing for the fact that he would be much worse. But for me, as a developer, I became an excellent replacement for the old version. Heats less (I use maxfancontrol), works faster. Touchbar does not confuse. I had to buy a couple of wires but it was not a problem.

My 17" Mac Pro took a dump after 6 years, for the price of $3,000 I was hoping to get a least 10 years out of it, but I'm a Apple fan so ordered another laptop, glad to have my same programing system but am missing the 17" screen!

So a more apt "overall rating" would be 0-5 stars (and I hope others will start doing this):Body 5Keyboard 5 until the keys stick then 1Battery life 5 until it's not 5, then impossible to repair 1Fans 5 until you vacuum up enough dandruff and cat hair and can't clean it then 1Connectivity 5, unless you want to connect anything other than TB3, then 0Touch pad 5, until you start accidentally touching it while typing, then 0Build materials 5, until the super-slippery surfaces lead to dropping the thing on the floor, then 0I got mine with all the ram and SSD I could get, so it was absurdly expensive soCost/value 2Speed 5 seriously, it doesn't build up "byte plaque" like PCs do, requiring regular OS re-installEndemic marketing nagware 0 This is never appropriate, and Apple went way over the line with that stupid App store.again 0, I cannot even delete the "eye-TOONS app". Super User, change ownership, hell i can't get it out.New category: Force-ware. Being FORCED, or making it so freaking hard to remove or work-around designed-infeatures and apps. Apple has gone to great lengths to build marketing (and your personal information leak) intotheir "brand".A hard zero, but I'm considering changing the new scale to -10 to 10.The touch bar, I personally like - a clever way to expand laptop functionality. However, if you're a developer who usesthings like "vi" for an editor, the escape key is no longer a key - so do NOT buy this laptop, McBoock, or whatever this thing is.Addendum, I somehow mis-keyed while typing this a total of 8 times, requiring me to key "back" to what I'm trying to do, apparently due to this enormous track pad. PC laptops have the same problem, or worse, when the "palm rest" activates the track pad in random ways.Keyboard design's health impacts 0 That stays zero (or -10 in the future), because all manufacturers shouldcare that I have to have my hands repaired surgically periodically just to be able to use your keyboards.(this is actually true)My wacky conclusion:The 2018 15" McBawk Preux with touch bar and normal display (retina super-mega-plus LCD monitor) might still be better than my last Dell.At this point, it's like choosing between presidential candidates - which is the lesser evil? That reality means that thealleged "Free Market" does not actually exist, and serves to reduce the quality of everything.Let's find ways to demand more for our money, and for our lives.

I use this for video editing. Its pretty fast, but I can't get over how many dongles are needed. I get that you want it to look sleek. But call it the sleek model, not the pro model. It doesn't look very good with a bunch of wires hanging out of it. Put in an sd card reader, 4 usb 3.1 cables thunderbolt 2, thunderbolt 3 and an escape key that you don't accidentally hit on the touch bar and lose work all the time. The trackpad is ridiculously big too.

I upgraded from a Late 2013 15" Macbook Pro, the cpu on this is roughly about twice as fast (multicore performance). This was strictly a business purchase for me: I develop mobile games for iOS and android. The six cores go a long way when it comes to compiling, essentially cutting my compile times by at least half from the 2013 model. The keyboard and trackpad are very nice, overall the build quality is very good. It does get pretty hot under load, the hottest area seems to be directly above the touch bar. The SSD is also ridiculously fast, getting around 2300MB/s reads and writes. I've selected the 16GB modal to save a few bucks and I don't regret it; I hardly ever go over 10GB of use, even while having both Xcode and Unity open, among countless other applications. I wish the graphics card was faster, but it's a laptop. The CPU has a large watt draw while under load, hitting the cpu hard while on battery will result less than three hours battery life. Look, I develop for iOS, so I have to have an apple based laptop. Would I purchase this laptop if I did not need it? No. But it's a great tool and has increased my productivity. On a side note, I use BetterTouchTool to customize the touch bar, and it actually makes it useful. I also use Boost Switcher Pro to disable turbo boost while on battery power, which has increased my battery life by about a hour. I consider these two tools as a necessity.

2018 MacBook Pro 15" 2.6GHz I7 6 core, 512GB SSD, 16GB DDR4, 560x graphics, Space GreyApple hit it out of the park this year with the inclusion of the 6 core 8th gen Intel processors. Speedier DDR4 memory and insane SSD speeds help as this is 1 of the fastest Mac's you can get, all in a nice portable size with a great screen. The discrete Radeon 560x graphics with 4GB helps with video editing and other tasks. Battery is better than last years models as well.I originally purchased the 13" 2018 MacBook Pro with i5/512GB SSD/8GB LPDDR3, but quickly found that the screen size was not for me. Its a pound lighter and little smaller, but I don't find carrying the 15" to be bothersome. Apple has done a great job at getting the build quality of these MacBook's down. While the 13" was fast and fluid, the smaller screen size is what ultimately made me switch. Of course the 15" feels snappier and smoother thanks to the 2 extra cores, faster DDR4 memory, and the discrete graphics. Both machines for 2018 are great upgrades over last years model.

I finally had no choice but to replace the 2013 vintage MBP (excellent machine) and I nearly decided to go with a PC instead. Part of me wishes I had and I may still return this. My bottom line: do NOT upgrade if you can avoid it, but if you *must* then recognize that it will be a step-down in usability. For me, it is the most annoying Apple portable I have bought since the Powerbook 5300 (which is the POJ product that caused me to switch to PCs in 1990s).The Good - much faster, nice screen, SDD is very fast, thin and light with good battery power, and excellent speakers for a laptopThe Chicken Guano:* Apple no longer includes the little extension for the power adapter meaning you have to buy one for an extra $20 if you want to plug in to any outlet that will not fit a heavy 4" power block (total guano for the most expensive laptop on the planet)* Touch bar is much worse than a useless gimmick, it makes it difficult to use the actual function keys when you need them - you get to play the "where is the brightness key now?" game (it's on the right, no its on the left, wait where is the volume, it is on the right, no middle, wait it is moving around, now it's gone, you have to click x to get it back because you adjusted the brightness if you want the volume - good luck doing any of that without staring at the keyboard and long for the days when you could thoughtlessly hit the mute button or adjust the brightness)* Touch Bar will activate if you rest your hand too close to it, causing you to jump between web pages (for example)* At least emojis are always nearby (stupid)* Hey Siri needs a different command to distinguish it from the phone/watch or else it is basically useless (which means it is useless) - Apple, try Hey MacBook or something, Siri will not care, it is not a person, it does not actually exist, sacrificing usefulness to maintain this fiction is stupid* The Ports - this has been beaten to death but it is still lousy and having to keep adapters and dongles and whatever plugged in is more than just inconvenient, it is makes the computer less comfortable to use and as near as I can tell, most adapters are actually a step *backwards* in speed of charging etc with nearly every device Apple or anyone else makes (it seems to take at least 2x as long to charge the iPhone through the USB-C to USB adapter)* The mag-safe power adapter is gone, this computer will one bay go crashing to the floor because of the dog/child/errant foot. Losing this was stupid, stupid, stupid* Keyboard is still not great and is still noisy* Track pad is too large, takes up too much room and gets in the wayI may still send this back in exchange for a PC. The many years of projects on Apple software is the only discouraging me from doing that. I may just take the performance hit on the MacBook Air and buy an external SSD.
